Two PhD Positions (f/m/d) – Radiochemistry/PET Tracer Development, University Hospital Cologne. The Institute of Radiochemistry and Experimental Molecular Imaging (IREMB) at the University Hospital Cologne is seeking two PhD candidates (f/m/d, 65%, TV-L E13) in the field of radiochemistry/PET tracer development. The positions will initially be embedded for two years in the internationally funded IMAGESTRO project and will be continued for one additional year at Forschungszentrum Jülich, Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine: Nuclear Chemistry (INM-5). The IMAGESTRO project aims to develop novel 18F-labeled PET tracers for non-invasive imaging of cerebral estrogen receptors. The work includes the organic synthesis of precursor and reference compounds, the development and optimization of radiofluorination reactions, analytical characterization by HPLC, MS and NMR, and support of the preclinical evaluation. Depending on project development, the focus of the third year will be either on the development of 18F-labeled radiotracers or 211At-labeled radiotherapeutics. Applicants should hold a Master's or Diploma degree in chemistry or a related natural science, have a strong background in organic synthesis and an interest in radiopharmaceutical tracer development. 2 ERC funded PhD positions in synthetic organic chemistry – (3 year). We are looking for a motivated scientist to join our team as a PhD student to develop new photochemical methods which enable the synthesis of structurally complex organoboron scaffolds. Our ERC grant, LUMIBOR, focusses on boron hybridisation and how these factors regulate, or elicit, light-driven processes. Specifically, how hybridisation can modulate and influence both efficiency of photoactivation and subsequent reactivity of high-energy intermediates. Harnessing this reactivity, the focus will be on developing operationally simple protocols which allow the rapid formation of biologically relevant scaffolds containing an organoboron residue for downstream synthetic manipulations. Your personal sphere of influence: The goal is the development, optimization and validation of DNA based methods for the authentication of food. The project combines state-of-the-art molecular biology, analytical chemistry and bionformatics approaches. The term of employment is 3 years. Your personal sphere of influence: A main aim of our work is the development of innovative approaches to elucidate the role of transition metals in cancer growth and to exploit the unique properties of metal complexes in anticancer drug discovery. Projects will involve the characterization of biological activities of novel compounds. The contract duration is 3 years with a preliminary limitation of 1,5 years and will automatically be extended to 3 years unless the employer hands in a non-extension declaration after 12 months. An extension up to a total of 4 years is then possible provided the excellent performance of the candidate. Your future tasks: You will be actively involved in research, teaching, and administration. Promotionsstelle an der TU Darmstadt im SFB 1487 „Iron, upgraded!“. Die Arbeitsgruppe von Prof. Dr. Christian Hess an der TU Darmstadt sucht eine:n Doktorand:in im Bereich operando-Katalyse im Sonderforschungsbereich (SFB) 1487 „Iron, upgraded!“. Das Forschungsprojekt verbindet heterogene Katalyse mit modernsten operando-spektroskopischen Methoden zur Untersuchung eisenbasierter Katalysatoren für nachhaltige chemische Prozesse. Zum Einsatz kommen insbesondere operando-IR-, Raman- und UV/Vis-Spektroskopie. A PhD project is available in the EU MCSA doctoral network TRILOGY in the group of Prof. Dr. Carmen Herrmann at the University of Hamburg on “First principles description of ultrafast charge and spin dynamics". Goals: 1. validate first-principles electronic structure methods for describing femtosecond time-resolved photoelectron dichroism spectra (PECD), in particular real-time time-dependent density functional theory. 2. validate and develop first-principles methodology for describing the effect of nuclear motion in PECD. 3. explore the relationship between chemical structure and charge and spin dynamics in time-resolved PECD and identify molecules for future key experiments. These goals will be pursued with collaboration partners in experiment and theory both in Hamburg and at national and international partner institutions within the Trilogy Network. PhD Position in Synthetic Organic Materials (University of Zurich; Start: September 2026). Join our international research team to explore nanographene π-radicals and develop next-generation graphene-based materials. In this fully funded PhD project (up to 4 years), you will synthesize and characterize open-shell molecular graphene fragments and investigate their radical reactivity at the interface of organic synthesis, materials science, and supramolecular chemistry. We seek a highly motivated candidate with an MSc degree in Chemistry (or equivalent), an excellent academic record, and experience in synthetic organic chemistry and molecular characterization. Postdoc position in Sustainable Organic Chemistry is available ASAP at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. The research project deals with the development of new catalytic methodologies to transform biorenewable platform molecules into building blocks for the chemical industry and involves a collaboration with KULeuven (complementary expertise in the characterization of surfaces at nanoscale, modelling and heterogeneous catalysis). The ideal candidate holds a PhD in chemistry with hands-on experience in analytical separation and preparative purification techniques, and structural characterization of organic molecules. The ability to work in a team, good communication/writing skills and a good mastery of the English language are required. Job offerings on this website will be posted for free on these websites if they reach us via E-Mail. The job list Universities and Research Institutes is published weekly, usually on Fridays.

Please send the text of your job advertisement to karriere@gdch.de and insert it right into the Mail or attach it as an .rtf-file. Please do not send PDF files! In order to avoid further inquiries from our sides please do also indicate whether the publication should be online only or additionally in the “Nachrichten”, our monthly member’s magazine.

The ad should have no more than 1.100 characters including blanks, or 1.500 characters if several positions are announced in one ad. We reserve the right to shorten longer texts without notifying the advertiser. Please do not send us a designed advertisement! However, you can of course link to the complete announcement on your website.
Deadline for the submission is Friday noon (12pm) or the last working day in the week (in case of public holidays).

To provide job seekers a quick overview, the first line of the advertisement should name the vacant position (e.g., doctoral or postdoctoral position, professorship, etc.) and the institute or university with the vacancy (e.g. "Doctoral position/professorship available at the Institute for xxx of yyy University" – please see sample texts).
