At the Jülich Centre for Neutron Science (JCNS), Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (Standort Garching/Jülich) we are opening Tasso Springer Fellowships - Six PhD Positions in Neutron Research. JCNS develops and operates high-performance neutron scattering instruments at some of the best neutron sources worldwide. Our main outstation is located at the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Zentrum (MLZ) in Garching near Munich. The PhD fellowships aim at educating the next generation of researchers in neutron scattering. PhD position in the field of electrochemical organic synthesis at Leibniz Institute for Catalysis in Rostock (E13 TV-L, 66%, available from 01.06.2026). At the Jülich Centre for Neutron Scattering (JCNS), Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH we are opening a PhD position for Machine learning and artificial intelligence for the understanding of diffuse scattering. At JCNS-2, we use scattering methods to determine structural and magnetic order and excitations in novel quantum and functional materials. Diffuse scattering observed in a diffraction experiment contains the information on dynamic and static disorder. Relating this information to the underlying structural disorder is a challenging task, particularly in the case of single crystal diffraction data where the information extends towards 3-d space. Machine learning offers promising approaches for the solution of complex problems of disorder, ultimately aiming at general and automated workflow for the analysis of single-crystal diffuse scattering. Doktorand/in (w/m/d) – Biosensorik und biomedizinische Diagnostik, Ruhr-Universität-Bochum. In der Arbeitsgruppe Kruss wird eine PhD Stelle (67 % TV-L E13) für die Dauer von drei Jahren besetzt. Es sollen fluoreszente Biosensoren für Signalmoleküle des Immunsystems entwickelt werden. Dabei werden fluoreszente Nanomaterialien so modifiziert, dass sie Signalmoleküle erkennen können. Diese Sensoren werden mit modernen Methoden der Fluoreszenzmikroskopie untersucht. Mit diesen Biosensoren soll einerseits die Kommunikation zwischen Immunzellen besser verstanden werden und andererseits eine biomedizinische Diagnostik z.B. zur Überwachung des Immunsystems bei Tumortherapien ermöglicht werden. A 2-year postdoctoral position (TVL E13) is available immediately in our research area “Nucleophilic Organocatalysis.” The project focuses on organocatalytic transformations with the focus of enhancing their chemo-, regio- and stereoselectivity. In this PhD We take the approach of controlling the oxo clusters building blocks before assembly into MOFs. We care about stability of the MOFs under real conditions.
