Working groups

The working group Events organises and supports the SEC annual meeting, technology tours, symposia and other specialist events of the Senior Expert Chemists.

The Online Lectures working group plans and coordinates the SEC’s monthly Online lectures, which have been open to everyone interested since 2024.

The working group Chemistry Education develops teaching materials and is committed to promoting chemistry education in schools, higher education and nurseries.

The Newsletter working group creates and coordinates the regularly published SEC newsletter – a connecting element for all members and the office.

The working group Current Issues identifies socially relevant chemical topics, discusses them openly and prepares well-founded statements for the public.

The working group Publications coordinates all publications of the SEC – from specialist articles and contributions for Faszination Chemie through to social media posts and special publications.

The working group Mentoring promotes the transfer of knowledge between generations, presents role models and supports SEC members in actively contributing their expertise.

The working group Cooperation maintains and expands partnerships with national and international chemical societies as well as other GDCh Divisions.

The working group for websites is responsible for keeping the SEC website up to date and attractive and continuously develops it further in the interests of all members.

The working group for member recruitment and services is responsible for attracting new members and supporting existing SEC members through targeted communication and service.
