Chemistry needs all talents – regardless of gender, background, age or any other characteristics. We have specific offers to support your journey.
Our stance is clear
All chemists are welcome at the GDCh. We represent people from different cultures with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Equal opportunities are not merely an empty promise for us, but a lived reality.
Our mission statement sums it up: “We embrace diversity and equal opportunities” and resolutely oppose all forms of discrimination.
We also affirm our stance together with others, having signed the “Diversity Charter” and the “Statement on inclusion and diversity in the chemical sciences”.
Diversity fosters excellence and innovation. Teams with different perspectives find better solutions. When all talents can contribute their skills, the entire chemical community benefits.
Equal opportunities have many dimensions:
Sex and gender identity
Ethnic origin and nationality
Age and life situation
Religion and Weltanschauing
Sexual orientation
Physical abilities
Social and economic background
Career path and communication style
Equal opportunities and diversity...
...we have to embody this every day. It takes courage: the courage to take unconventional paths, question expectations and encourage others to approach things in unconventional ways too. Because often, more is possible than you think."
Prof. Dr Katharina Landfester, MPI for Polymer Research, Mainz
"Diversity and open exchange...
...delivers scientific excellence – also, and especially, in chemistry. Equal opportunities drive innovation and responsibility. We need fair access for everyone – transparent, inclusive, with zero tolerance for discrimination."
Dr. Timo Fleßner, Bayer AG
"Chemistry benefits from diversity.
That is why I am committed to diversity and equal opportunities, to identifying and dismantling barriers—for an inclusive chemistry community within the JCF and GDCh that actively helps shape society."
Alexandra Tietze, University of Tübingen
