Working group 1 - Events

Status Quo

Since its establishment, the organisation and implementation of events have been a permanent and attractive part of SEC activities. The highly successful 10th SEC annual meeting 2026 in Bareuth is now behind us. In addition, the symposium “...Yes, but how”, Technology Tours and symposia/posters at the GDCh-WiFo/SCiFo and at conferences of the “chemical education” Divisions are regularly organised, in some cases together with other Divisions.

Objectives

The high quality standards of SEC events must also be maintained in the future. For our annual meetings, we aim to attract the most renowned speakers to present on current scientific and socio-political topics. The same applies to our symposium. The Technology Tours should lead to companies or institutes that can offer interesting insights into their work.

At the same time, a continuous supply of “new blood” for organising committees, etc. must be ensured, and new members must be involved.

Planned projects

  • SEC annual meetings as before every two years, perhaps scheduled close to the JCF symposium, with GECCos.
  • Symposia “...yes, but how?” once a year in autumn, in cooperation with DECHEMA and other Divisions
  • Technology Tours twice a year where possible
  • Participation with a presentation or poster at the Science Forum and at selected conferences of other Divisions
