AG Mentoring

Presentation of individual role models, e.g. “SEC Aktiv” (Horst Klemeyer, Barbara Pohl): SEC Newsletter No. 47, August 2025
An initial exchange has taken place with Angela Pereira Jae, team leader of the “Career Service and Job Market” at the GDCh Office. Exchange with JCF/GECCo (Franz Schütz), e.g. workshop, online lecture.
A prototype of a poster exists (three-step motif). Eva Wille and Hans-Günther Schmalz are taking part in the GDCh workshop “Mentoring Quo vadis 2026”.
Many people from the natural sciences retire at the end of their professional careers and bring with them a wealth of accumulated knowledge. The aim of this working group is to make further concrete use of this knowledge for the GDCh, for our society, but also for oneself.
It is essential to continuously attract new members to the working group in order to remain in touch with the times.
Recruiting people to support the idea: presenting role models/examples (newsletter section and an additional brochure for the 2028 annual meeting?)
Examples: books, journals, publishing work (publishing work in retirement): Eva Wille reports.
Inspiring the youngest children to take an interest in chemistry: Wolfgang Kortmann reports.
Gisela Boeck: history of science and chemistry education for medical students
a more detailed list is available informally
Questionnaire sent to all SEC members: Who can contribute what in which area, would like to introduce themselves and, where applicable, act as a mentor for others?
Exchange with the GDCh Continuing Education Commission with specific proposals in autumn 2026 (“paper” on this is available from Barbara Pohl)
Spokeswomen: Barbara Pohl, Eva Wille
Hans-Günther Schmalz
