Foundations

How do the foundations based at the GDCh strengthen the chemical community and the standing of chemistry? They represent a lasting commitment, support education, early-career researchers and research, as well as dialogue between science and society – and thus boldly drive change that will shape the future of chemistry for the long term.

Three facts about our foundations

Under the umbrella of the GDCh, 16 foundations are administered in a fiduciary capacity, directly enabling prizes, funding projects and scholarships – not an abstract undertaking, but tangible support.
The Klaus Grohe Award and the Karl Ziegler Award are among the most prestigious awards in their community – complemented by support for early-career researchers.
From patent support for young researchers to current topics such as molecular main-group chemistry and green hydrogen – chemistry with a direct impact.

What role do foundations play at the GDCh?

The foundations at the GDCh direct their funds towards promoting chemistry – specifically in the form of prizes, funding projects and scholarships. Awards are made in accordance with defined foundation objectives and by the foundation advisory boards. In this way, they ensure lasting and reliable support. Our foundations enable visible support for excellence and early-career researchers, for example through highly endowed prizes and scholarships, while also supporting practical and knowledge-transfer activities such as patent applications, as well as future-oriented topics such as green hydrogen.

Foundations as catalysts for science

Anyone wishing to make a lasting difference can establish a foundation with the GDCh: in doing so, you create a lasting foundation that supports chemical education, the promotion of young scientists and scientific progress over the long term – get your own initiative off the ground.

A foundation as an instrument for long-term social engagement

By establishing a foundation with the GDCh, you provide tangible support to people, for example through scholarships, prizes or travel grants. You put your personal passion and life’s work into practice with your own thematic profile and create a visible commitment that has a lasting impact and remains alive for years through funding and awards.

GDCh – Supporting. Connecting. Shaping. Because together we shape the future.
