working group 5 - Current topics, discourses

Status Quo

Identification of current and potentially controversially discussed topics of interest to society. Open and fair discussion of these topics followed by the formation of opinions. Development of proposals for publishing these opinions in a suitable form: publication in Nachrichten, Chemie in Unserer Zeit, Faszination Chemie, as open letters (see Glyphosat), etc. Either by commissioning the working group "Publikation" or by forming a (temporary) subgroup for the purpose of publication.
Examples of topics include climate and energy, environmental protection, chemicals in the environment (e.g. glyphosate), plastics recycling, the future of the chemical industry, raw materials, the hydrogen economy, e-fuels, etc.

Objectives

• Two meetings per year in a large group; as a rule, Online meetings (no hybrid meetings). Wolfgang Gerhartz or Franz Schütz can organise meetings, but do not have to attend them.
• Prepare statements for publication
• Assess suitability for "Nachgerechnet" (section in the SEC newsletter)
• Ensure a continuous influx of early-career members

Planned projects

Topic proposals, e.g. for "Nachgerechnet", "Pro und Contra", "Faszination Chemie", and "occasions for short articles on social media".
