Working Group: Current Topics

Working group 5 - Current topics, discourses

Status quo

Identification of current and potentially controversial topics of interest to society. Open and fair discussion of these topics followed by the formation of opinions. Development of proposals for publishing this opinion in a suitable form: either by commissioning the Publication working group or by forming a (temporary) subgroup for the purpose of publication.
Examples of topics include climate and energy, environmental protection, chemicals in the environment, plastics recycling, the future of the chemical industry, raw materials, the hydrogen economy, e-fuels, etc.

Aims

  • Two meetings per year in a large group; as a rule, Online meetings (no hybrid meeting). Wolfgang Gerhartz or Franz Schütz can organise meetings, but do not have to attend them.
  • Prepare statements for publication
  • Assess suitability for "Nachgerechnet" (section in the SEC newsletter)
  • Ensure a continuous supply of early-career members

Planned projects

Suggestions for topics, e.g. for "Nachgerechnet", "Pros and Cons", "Fascination with Chemistry", "Occasions for short articles on social media".
