Historical sites of chemistry

Since 1999, the GDCh has been highlighting places where the history of chemistry was made through its ‘Historical Sites of Chemistry’ initiative. These designations honour the workplaces of eminent scientists – as lasting memorials. In this way, the cultural heritage of chemistry is kept alive and brought more firmly into the public eye. Discover the designated sites and click through the stories behind them.

The future needs its roots

With the ‘Historic Sites of Chemistry’, we bring the history of chemistry to life. Immerse yourself in history – discover the award-winning sites and the stories behind them.
