Badge of Honour
In recognition of outstanding commitment to the Society of Water Chemistry of the German Chemical Society (GDCh), the Division Board awards the honorary pin to selected individuals at irregular intervals. The award ceremony traditionally takes place as part of the annual WASSER conference.

On 11 May 2026 Dr Michael Petri was awarded the Badge of Honour during WASSER 2026 "in recognition of his many years of commitment to the Society of Water Chemistry. Drawing on his extensive expert knowledge, he enriched the annual conferences with many valuable technical contributions. In particular, he demonstrated how fundamental analytical research originating from the Society of Water Chemistry can be transferred into laboratory practice and used there. His tireless commitment to the standardisation of water analysis deserves special mention. Through his own systematic investigations, he helped shape the development of the German Standard Methods as well as other DIN and ISO documents, and had a decisive influence on them. Commitments of this kind, which do not always become visible externally, are of fundamental importance to the Society of Water Chemistry's high quality standards in its work."

On 26 May 2025, Dr Norbert Konradt was awarded the badge of honour as part of WASSER 2025 "in recognition of his many years of commitment to the Society of Water Chemistry. Drawing on his extensive expert knowledge, he enriched the annual conferences with numerous valuable technical contributions. In doing so, he demonstrated how fundamental research can emerge from the Society of Water Chemistry, be transferred into the practice of water supply and applied there. Particular mention should be made of his tireless efforts to secure the long-standing financial support of the Society of Water Chemistry by Stadtwerke Düsseldorf, which is largely attributable to his work. Such funding is of fundamental importance to the success of our annual conferences."
