Fundamental Research and Legal History in Karlsruhe

The 15th SEC technology tour took place on 21 and 22 July 2025 in Karlsruhe. First, we travelled to Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen, north of Karlsruhe. There, we visited the exhibition on the history of nuclear energy in Germany on the site of the former Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Centre (KfK), now KIT. The visit also included a tour of the KATRIN neutrino experiment and the KARA synchrotron.

On the evening of 21 July, we met for a social gathering at Badisch' Brauhaus in Karlsruhe city centre.

Invoking the Federal Constitutional Court (BVerfG) always plays a major role. That is why, from the extensive range offered by the Tourist Information in Karlsruhe, we booked the “Karlsruhe in Law” tour for the morning of 22 Jul 25. Karlsruhe has been the seat of the Federal Court of Justice and the BVerfG since 1951. We therefore took a guided tour of Karlsruhe’s legal history, including the Square of Basic Rights and the BVerfG building.
