SEC at the GDCh Science Forum Chemistry in Munich

The GDCh Science Forum Chemistry was planned to take place in Munich: from 29 Aug - 1 Sep 2021. The coronavirus put a spanner in the works, and the entire Science Forum was held Online. Nevertheless, the Senior Expert Chemists organised an afternoon of Online lectures there on Tuesday, 31 Aug, whose motto referred to Munich:

Munich 21– No Fun Without Chemistry

Four topics, four lectures:

  • Beer: Prof. Dr. Thomas Becker (TU Munich): The enzyme repertoire in the brewing process
  • Sport: Dr. Josef Wünsch, (BASF SE, Ludwigshafen): When polymers become a running business
  • Art: Prof. Dr. Heinz Langhals (LRZ-Leibniz Supercomputing Centre of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities, Munich): Chemistry or art: a tension between rationality and aesthetics … or simply a supplement?
  • Science: Dr. Susanne Rehn-Taube (Deutsches Museum, Munich): Chemistry at the Deutsches Museum – yesterday, today, tomorrow

The lectures were well attended, by an average of approximately 60 participants.
