Senior Expert Chemists at the GDCh Chemistry Science Forum 2011

At the GDCh Science Forum in Bremen from 4–7 September 2011, the Senior Expert Chemists (SEC) were represented with scientific lectures and posters (see also Nachr Chem. 2011, 59, 709). The motto of the Science Forum was “Chemistry Creates the Future”, and the SEC lectures were held under the heading “Biographical and Chemical.” Many, but not all, lectures are available as PDFs. If you are interested, send an email to Wolfgang Gerhartz

  • Prof. Dr. Eberhard Ehlers: The cell as a chemical factory
  • Prof. Dr. Roland Bitsch: Principles of nutrition for senior citizens
  • Dr. Gerhard Heywang: Important discoveries in science
  • Prof. Dr. Heribert Offermanns: Craftsman, discoverer or creator – on the chemist’s self-image

Five Senior Expert Chemists exhibited a poster:

  • Prof. Dr. Horst Altenburg: Ceramic superconductors – powders, thick films, bulk materials
  • Prof. Dr. Roland Bitsch: Comparative bioavailability and bioactivity of antioxidant polyphenolics from apple products
  • Prof. Dr. Johann W. Buchler: The identity of chemistry is rooted in the concept of matter
  • Prof. Dr. Dietrich Döpp: The surprising photochemistry of benzo-fused sultams
  • Prof. Dr. Jörn Müller: Transition-metal complexes with the new bridged cyclopentadienyl-imidazolylidene ligand system

The Science Forum took place at the Congress Centrum Bremen.
