Chemistry experiments

Enthusiasm, insights, responsibility, careers
The birthday present “Chemistry experiments ignite” for the 20th anniversary of the SEC Division is more than a collection of anecdotes. The more than 30 stories also document and illustrate in many different ways why the art of experimentation is so outstandingly important to chemistry.
Just as the sparkler on the cover sprays sparks, the authors’ first experiments ignited the spark for the subject of chemistry. The experiment always came first.

The nearly thirty contributions collected in the brochure, as well as the interviews with the Nobel Prize winners Gerhard Ertl and Benjamin List, describe the career paths of chemists and demonstrate the outstanding importance of early experimentation as a lasting source of enthusiasm, understanding and learning about responsibility. It is quite clear that successful careers in chemistry are already nurtured through experimental science lessons at school.
