Environmental chemistry & ecotoxicology
The GDCh Division of Environmental Chemistry & Ecotoxicology was founded in November 1990, has around 850 members and focuses on the interactions between chemicals and the environment. This involves, firstly, describing and understanding the pathways by which substances enter the environment, their distribution and transformation in the compartments soil, water and air (environmental chemistry), and, secondly, characterising their effects on organisms and habitats (ecotoxicology). The field is highly interdisciplinary and offers people with knowledge in chemistry, biology, geosciences, law, engineering and other related disciplines opportunities for research and employment.
