detergent chemistry

The developments in the field of the chemistry and technology of washing and cleaning since the 1950s, together with the many associated ecological, human toxicological and other challenges, made it essential for all those working in this field at universities, research institutes, government agencies and in the raw materials and detergents industries to collaborate.

In 1974, the GDCh Division of Detergent Chemistry was therefore founded in Bamberg as a forum for the exchange of scientific views and experience. Since then, discussions on all technical questions relating to detergents and cleaning products have been held openly and constructively within this forum. Particular emphasis is placed on science-based statements about the sustainable benefits for people and their environment, and on supporting early-career scientists.
