detergent chemistry

The rapid developments in the chemistry and technology of washing and cleaning since the 1950s, together with the wide-ranging ecological, human toxicological and other challenges associated with them, made collaboration between everyone involved in this field from universities, research institutes, government authorities, and the raw materials and detergent industries essential.

Thus, in 1974, the GDCh Division of Detergent Chemistry was founded in Bamberg as a forum for the exchange of scientific opinions and experience. Since then, discussions on all technical issues relating to detergents and cleaning products have been conducted openly and constructively within this forum. Particular emphasis is placed on science-based statements regarding sustainable benefits for people in their environment and on supporting early-career scientists.
