Association for Chemistry and Economics

Who we are – what we do

The Association for Chemistry and Economics (VCW) was founded in 1999 as a Division of the GDCh and currently has more than 1,000 members. It forms an interface between the natural sciences, particularly chemistry, and economics, achieving this above all by building an international network for the chemical industry and economics. The VCW brings together people from chemistry, other natural sciences, engineering and also others connected with chemistry or the chemical industry. Everyone from these fields is warmly invited to help achieve the VCW’s objectives.

Tasks and objectives of the VCW

  • To create a forum in which discussions on the chemical industry and economics can be conducted openly and proactively
  • To pool expertise in the chemical industry and economics
  • To create a network for people who work professionally at the interface between chemistry and business
  • To investigate the economic conditions of the chemical industry
  • Within the GDCh, to advocate support for creative engagement with the development of the chemical industry in Germany, Europe and worldwide
  • To make independent contributions to the discourse on industrial and technological development
