The following topics, among others, were discussed at the last meeting:

The representative of the BMELV invited as a guest reported on new or planned regulations concerning liquors; this covered both EU law, particularly the implementing regulation on “compound terms” and the EU Food Information Regulation, and national liquor law (AGeV), as well as the technical dossiers to be prepared for geographically protected indications (particularly Korn/Kornbrand); the changes for the alcohol and liquors market in connection with the abolition of the spirits monopoly from 1 January 2018 were also briefly addressed.
Examples of compound terms with regard to the implementing regulation that will apply in future; the compilation of a collection of examples was proposed
Whisky: production using the mash process
Questions concerning designation law, e.g. “Vugelbeerpunsch”, fruit spirit with fruit extract, blending of fruit distillates
Old-bread spirit: designation, raw materials used, production conditions
Permitted additives for liquors
Limit values for plasticisers
