Term of office 2026 - 2028

The following topics, among others, were discussed at the last meeting:
  • The representative of the BMELV invited as a guest reported on new or planned regulations concerning liquors; this covered both EU law, particularly the implementing regulation on “compound terms” and the EU Food Information Regulation, and national liquor law (AGeV), as well as the technical dossiers to be prepared for geographically protected indications (particularly Korn/Kornbrand); the changes for the alcohol and liquors market in connection with the abolition of the spirits monopoly from 1 January 2018 were also briefly addressed.
  • Examples of compound terms with regard to the implementing regulation that will apply in future; the compilation of a collection of examples was proposed
  • Whisky: production using the mash process
  • Questions concerning designation law, e.g. “Vugelbeerpunsch”, fruit spirit with fruit extract, blending of fruit distillates
  • Old-bread spirit: designation, raw materials used, production conditions
  • Permitted additives for liquors
  • Limit values for plasticisers
  • Use of antibiotics
  • Progress of the European data collection for establishing a guidance value for ethyl carbamate
  • New elections of the chairman, his deputy and the secretary

  • Use of compound terms, allusions and the term “blend” in the designation and presentation of liquors (2022) (pdf)
  • Application of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 716/2013 with regard to the labelling of liquors and other foodstuffs with compound terms ("Compound terms") or allusions (2015) (pdf)
  • Ethyl carbamate in stone-fruit spirits (2006, updated 2010) (pdf)
  • Application of the amended Regulation (EC) No 110/2008 on liquors (pdf)
Here: Use of so-called "compound terms" ("compound terms") (decision trees)
prepared by the LChG Working Group Liquors together with the BMELV
