Working group elements and element species

The working group currently comprises 14 active and 21 corresponding members. The working group is open to members from the following fields:

  • Private and contract laboratories
  • Government testing facilities
  • Federal authorities
  • Manufacturers
  • Universities


Tasks and objectives of the working group

  • Ensuring the quality and accuracy of element determinations
    Addressing analytical questions, for example in food, feed and environmental samples
  • Addressing analytical questions
  • Developing tried-and-tested methods for determining elements and trace elements in food, biological samples, consumer products and cosmetic products
  • Developing methods for determining elements using multi-element techniques
  • Developing methods for determining element species
  • Preparing statements and addressing legal issues in the field of elemental analysis
  • Organising and conducting training events
    Workshops on current topics in elemental analysis
  • Cooperation with national and international expert committees (DIN, CEN)
  • Cooperation with § 64-LFGB working groups

    Due to changes in the legal situation, this paper is no longer required. It was withdrawn with effect from 1 January 2023 by resolution of the working group dated 28 October 2022.
