Online University Guide
Macromolecular chemistry has been firmly established in the German research landscape since the pioneering work of Hermann Staudinger and has developed over more than a century into a key field of innovation. Numerous scientific breakthroughs and technological developments can be traced back to the work of outstanding polymer chemists in Germany and continue to shape both fundamental research and industrial applications to this day.
The aim of this Online university guide is to make this diversity visible and accessible. It provides a structured overview of the current research landscape of macromolecular chemistry in Germany and enables targeted orientation within the field. At its heart are research groups working on polymer science questions – from synthesis and characterisation through to functional applications.
Macromolecular chemistry has a broad presence throughout Germany: research activities can be found at numerous universities and non-university institutions across the country. The university guide reflects this decentralised structure and links information from more than 40 locations.
As the Division of Macromolecular Chemistry of the GDCh, we see this digital university guide as a dynamic tool: it is intended not only to provide information, but also to promote exchange, facilitate collaborations and, in particular, provide students and early-career researchers with a sound orientation within the field.
