Working Group Separation Science

The GDCh Division of Analytical Chemistry working group Separation Science was founded in 1967, brings together those interested in chromatography and related separation and analytical methods, and has over 700 members. The working group

  • organises discussion meetings that facilitate the exchange of experience and expand and deepen knowledge in the field of chromatography and related separation and analytical methods.
  • holds national and international conferences in close coordination with the Division of Analytical Chemistry.
  • has traditionally held a PhD seminar every January in Hohenroda, Hesse, since 1990.
  • awards the Ernst-Bayer Award (target group: PhD, postdocs) and the Gerhard-Hesse Award (young professionals, mid-career professionals). [Until 2024, the Eberhard-Gerstel Award was presented.]
  • supports early-career researchers with conference grants to attend selected conferences.
