The voice of analytical chemistry
The GDCh Division of Analytical Chemistry has approximately 2,400 members and, since its foundation in 1951, has represented analytical chemistry in Germany. It connects universities, educational institutions, public authorities, industry, instrument manufacturers, independent laboratories and the media. It gives analytical chemistry a strong voice in science, business, politics and the public sphere, and promotes education in analytical chemistry.
Those from academia and industry who are interested are warmly invited to get involved in the Division or benefit from its wide range of activities and existing expertise:
- Intensive subject-specific work is carried out in the nine working groups and in the Industry Forum Analytics.
- The central membership publication is the membership magazine, published four times a year.
- The Division and various working groups regularly present awards and honours.
- As its central scientific conference, the Division organises ANAKON in odd-numbered years.
- The Division supports the programme design of the analytica conference (even-numbered years; as part of the analytica trade fair).
- The Industry Forum Analytics organises the spring school to familiarise master’s students with methods and issues in industrial analytics.
- The Division supports early-career scientists with a generous scholarship programme for national and international Conferences.
- The Young Analytical Chemists provide two members of the Division’s executive board and organise annual meetings and further events for early-career analytical chemists.
- At European level, the Division works closely with the Division of Analytical Chemistry of the European Chemical Society (EuChemS).
