Wilhelm Klemm Prize
Roland Fischer is an internationally recognised inorganic chemist whose research areas range from organometallic chemistry to materials chemistry. He is one of the most prominent inorganic chemists of our time. His contributions to metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), particularly with regard to structure–property relationships and applications in catalysis and energy storage, are especially noteworthy. He is actively involved in national and international research networks and has made a significant contribution to teaching. As Vice-President of the DFG (2016–2021), he also supported early-career researchers.
The Wilhelm Klemm Prize is awarded to outstanding chemists in the field of inorganic chemistry. The prize was established in 1984 by Degussa AG, Frankfurt am Main, and has been funded by the GDCh since 1996. Wilhelm Klemm was an eminent inorganic chemist. The elements in which Klemm was most interested were ytterbium, nickel, caesium, germanium and fluorine. The element symbols are embossed on the medal.
