Price for bioconversion of renewable raw materials
The Price for bioconversion of renewable raw materials 2025 goes to Dr. Daniel Eggerichs. In his doctoral thesis, he investigated the utilisation of lignin monomers to produce bioplastics using Rhodococcus jostii RHA1. In doing so, he gained important insights into 4-phenol oxidases, which enable the conversion of lignin building blocks. He also made significant contributions to the metabolism of R. jostii RHA1 and developed an in-depth understanding of group E flavoprotein monooxygenases. The considerable increase in knowledge concerning the utilisation of lignin building blocks demonstrates a high degree of innovative potential.
For outstanding dissertations in the field of the bioconversion of renewable raw materials, our member Prof. Dr. em. Manfred Schneider has established the Price for bioconversion of renewable raw materials. It is awarded to young male and female doctoral researchers whose doctoral degree was awarded no more than two years ago.
Conditions: The nominees must have received their doctorates no more than two years before 15 September 2026. Eligible to submit nominations are university lecturers with whom the nominees completed their doctorates.
Required nomination documents: A brief justification, CV and list of publications, as well as a summary of the doctoral thesis (maximum two pages) in English. The complete doctoral thesis must also be submitted as a PDF file.
Deadline: 15 September 2026
Conditions: On 15 September 2026, the nominees must have completed their doctorate no more than two years previously. Eligible to submit nominations are university lecturers under whose supervision the nominees completed their doctorates.
Required nomination documents: A brief statement of reasons, CV and publication list, together with a summary of the dissertation (maximum two pages) in English. The complete dissertation must also be submitted as a PDF file.
