Historical Sites of Chemistry

Since 1999, the GDCh has been highlighting sites where the history of chemistry was made through its “Historic Sites of Chemistry” initiative. Places where important scientists worked are honoured as lasting memorial sites. This keeps chemistry’s cultural heritage alive and brings it more strongly to the attention of the public. Discover the honoured sites and explore the stories behind them.

The future needs its origins

With the ‘Historic Sites of Chemistry’, we bring the history of chemistry to life. Delve into history – discover the award-winning sites and the stories behind the places.
