patent law
Research, development, manufacture and distribution of these products have decisively improved our lives over the past century, and particularly over the last few decades. Success in all areas, whether in the field of new medicines, new plastics, agrochemicals, paints and coatings, fibres or the new challenges of biotechnological production, would not have been possible without the corresponding protection of industrial property. The core work of the GDCh Division, founded in 1949, is to support members working in the fields of patent law, the protection of industrial property and patent-related matters. Conferences, seminars and colloquia serve this purpose.

The Division is valued as an educational forum for patent law and as a forum for exchanging experience on patent matters, legislation, case law and official practice. Specialisation days, symposia and workshops have made a particular contribution to this since their introduction in 1983.
