Chemistry Europe was founded in 1995 and is an association of sixteen chemical societies from fifteen European countries: Belgium (KVCV, SRC), Germany (GDCh), France (SFC), Greece (EEX), Italy (SCI), the Netherlands (KNCV), Austria (GÖCH), Poland (PTCh), Portugal (SPQ), Sweden (SK), Switzerland (SCG), Slovakia (SCHS), Spain (RSEQ), the Czech Republic (CSCh) and Hungary (MKE). The GDCh is a founding member of Chemistry Europe.
Together with the publisher Wiley-VCH, Chemistry Europe publishes a family of rigorously peer-reviewed, high-quality European journals that are jointly owned by the societies and the publisher in various configurations.
As part of its co-ownership of the Chemistry Europe journals, the GDCh receives lease payments, which it uses for the benefit of the chemistry community: Every article published from Germany in a Chemistry Europe journal in which the GDCh holds a share contributes to the GDCh’s wide range of activities and promotes chemistry in Germany.

The GDCh is co-owner of the following Chemistry Europe journals:
