Information for local branch chairpersons
Food and beverages provided free of charge on the occasion of and during a scientific lecture
or a follow-up meeting are permitted, provided that they are reasonable and within the
budget of the respective local group.
(Recommendation: €50/person/day)
For follow-up meetings, invited lecturers and local group Chairs are initially among
the eligible persons. A maximum of two additional people may be invited
if they have made an exceptional contribution.
Please note that the budget for a lecture is approximately €300. This
amount is intended to cover expenses such as catering, travel and other costs incurred by the lecturers.
For lecturers from abroad, an overspend is permissible, but this must be offset in other areas of expenditure so that
the overall budget is not exceeded.
The names of all persons provided with hospitality must be recorded on the hospitality receipt or
on the reimbursement claim. As with all invoices, hospitality receipts in particular (over €250) must be
issued to the address of GDCh e.V., Varrentrappstraße 40–42, 60486 Frankfurt.
As a local branch chair, you have extensive powers to contact your local members and manage your structure.
In the GDCh.app, you manage your events and add new ones – from there, the information is sent directly by email to your local members, to the websites at gdch.de and jcf.io, to the app and our member magazine Nachrichten aus der Chemie.
With the app, you can contact your members directly on site by email with your own subject line, text and attachment to inform them about important news.
You can also view your section’s finances. There you will find the latest bank statement with all transactions and, of course, the account balance, which is updated at regular intervals (usually monthly).
As the chair of a local group, you can request your own email account and services in Google Workspace in the go.gdch.de or jcf.io domains at any time to communicate with colleagues and share documents.
When making public appearances on behalf of the GDCh, for example at your events, please regularly highlight the benefits of GDCh membership. After all, who could present the advantages of GDCh membership better than you, as an existing GDCh member?
In the next few days, you will receive a package containing some information materials that you can use to recruit new GDCh members. You are welcome to display the flyers it contains as you wish, and additional supplies will be provided whenever needed.
To introduce you to the Chemical Community in your new role as chair of your local branch, we offer you the opportunity to present yourself online on gdch.de, gdch.app and jcf.io. Please take a few minutes to complete your app profile:
Please then let me know briefly by email so that I can write an article for our membership magazine Nachrichten aus der Chemie using your details.
You are welcome to appoint a trusted person as your deputy to assist you with organising and holding events and communicating with members.
To familiarise yourself quickly with your new role, please read the OV information for local section chairs. You can also find this and further information in the Download area on the GDCh website.
