Career in science

Career in science

To realise the dream of conducting research in your own working group, you can draw on various networks and support services.

Career in Science

German Society for Junior Professorship

The association is a nationwide organisation of junior professors. Its aims are to provide intellectual and financial support for junior professors. The association seeks to be a communication platform for junior professors, support networking and the exchange of information, and promote public relations.

EURAXESS

EURAXESS Germany – the national coordination centre at the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research) – is an information and advisory centre providing information on careers in academia. Mobile researchers can find out about routes to successfully embarking on an academic career and, for example, receive information about further training opportunities, see who offers support for dual-career couples, which programmes are specifically aimed at women, and who funds projects involving industry.

GAIN
German Academic International Network is the name of this initiative supported by the DAAD, DFG and the AvH Foundation. Its aim is to support German scientists in North America and also to assist them with a possible return to Germany. In this way, it seeks to counteract the brain drain, namely the migration abroad of highly qualified scientists who were trained at considerable expense in Germany.

Research Gate

It looks a bit like Facebook and works in a similar way – albeit at an academic level. Scientists from all kinds of disciplines have come together here to discuss different topics.
