Commission for further training

In accordance with its statutes, one of the GDCh's objectives is to promote chemistry-oriented scientific continuing education. To this end, a large number of scientific courses and information events on continuing professional development are organised and offered every year.
The purpose of the Commission's work is to promote the quality and acceptance of the GDCh's continuing education programme.
The Commission for Continuing Education has an advisory role vis-à-vis the Continuing Education Division of the GDCh Head Office and actively supports the Head Office with regard to the development of strategic objectives in the area of continuing education, with regard to the specific content of the continuing education programme (topic acquisition and programme selection) and in ensuring course quality.
The Commission for Continuing Education is appointed by the GDCh Executive Board.

Commission for Teacher Training

In order to control, monitor and further develop teacher training activities, a Commission for Teacher Training is appointed by the GDCh Executive Board as part of the GDCh's commission work. The members are elected on the recommendation of the Chemistry Teaching Section and appointed for a period of four years, with the possibility of reappointment. The members should work in the Chemistry Education Section or be members of the GDCh Training Commission or partner organisations involved in the training programme.
The members of the Commission for Teacher Training elect a chairperson, who is automatically also a member of the GDCh Training Commission. The commission meets at least once a year.

The Commission for Teacher Training fulfils the following tasks:

- Selecting training centres and proposing their establishment to the GDCh Executive Board
- Regularly defining and publishing framework topics to be dealt with as focal points in regional and supra-regional teacher training
- Annual selection of suitable events and speakers for the supra-regional training events
- Actively promoting the goals of GDCh teacher training, attracting additional partners (e.g. state ministries, regional and supra-regional teacher training centres, etc.)
- Promoting the goals of the GDCh teacher training programme. (e.g. state ministries, regional and national educational institutions)
- Representing the interests of teacher training to the GDCh Executive Board
- Quality control of individual events in consultation with the GDCh office
- Periodic evaluation of the training centres
- Auditing the financial budget of the training centres
