Opening the Editor’s Black Box: Insider Tips for Successful Submissions

This workshop with Editors of Angewandte Chemie, the flagship journal of the GDCh published by Wiley-VCH, and ChemPhysChem is specifically tailored to the needs of master and PhD students and postdocs. Participants will receive a certificate so please register for the GDCh Campus Event and the workshop.

Publishing papers in reputed journals is an integral part of the research cycle. In this workshop, we will open the Editor's black box by explaining how manuscripts are processed from submission to publication. In addition, we will discuss ethical aspects of publishing and give tips on how to prepare your manuscript for submission and improve your chances for successful publication. Topics to be covered include:

  • How do I simplify my writing and improve the presentation of my results?
  • How do I choose the right journal for submission?
  • What do Editors and referees look for?
  • How do I improve the visibility of my research?

Curriculum Vitae von Nathalie Weickgenannt

Nathalie Weickgenannt studied chemistry at the University of Oxford, completing her MChem degree with research into chiral fluorinating reagents in the group of Véronique Gouverneur. She then obtained her PhD in the field of organocatalysis under the supervision of Frank Glorius (WWU Münster). She joined Angewandte Chemie in 2013 and was promoted to Deputy Editor of the journal in 2018.

Promotion in Chemie in 2005 an der Stellenbosch University (Südafrika) bei Jan Dillen und Helgard Raubenheimer. Post-docs bei Len Barbour (Stellenbosch University) und Gernot Frenking (Philipps-Universität Marburg). Seit 2007 bei Wiley-VCH in der Redaktion von ChemPhysChem tätig, seit 2011 Chefredakteurin von ChemPhysChem. Seit 2014 Chefredakteurin von ChemElectroChem und seit 2016 Chefredakteurin von ChemPhotoChem.
