Recent Progress in Transformations of Azepine/Oxazepine/Thiazepine Derivatives

As one of the prominent scaffolds, azepine derivatives such as dibenzoazepines, dibenzodiazepines, dibenzoxazepines, and dibenzothiazepines have exhibited remarkable chemistry with versatile applications in synthetic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and materials science. The construction of functionalized azepine derivatives, as well as azepine-fused heterocycles has attracted much attention from chemists. In this regard, we have described in this review recent advances in the use of tri-cyclic seven-membered imines/amines in various organic transformations.

Abstract

Dibenzoazepine, dibenzoxazepine and dibenzothiazepine scaffolds are an important class of N-heterocycles that possess multiple biological activities. Due to the widespread application of these motifs in drug discovery, the synthesis of tri-cyclic seven-membered imines/amines has gained huge attention of chemists. In the present review, we have highlighted recent advances in functionalization and cyclization reactions of these valuable organic compounds over the last six years.
