In the Faculty of Natural Sciences – Department of Chemistry – the following position is available for the summer semester 2024.
W2-University Professorship (f/m/d) for Physical Chemistry
Requirements:
Applicants are expected to have an internationally visible research profile in a promising field of physical chemistry, which is apparent from publications in high-ranking journals, successful applications for third-party funding as well as national and international cooperation. Relevant teaching experience in the field of physical chemistry in German and English is expected, as well as demonstrated willingness to collaborate and experience in collaborative research.
Expectations:
The applicants are expected to work in a promising field of physical chemistry and to complement the focus areas "Sustainability" and "Hydrogen" of the Department of Chemistry thematically and methodologically with a modern research area that is complementary and connectable to existing working groups. The scientific focus of the applicants should be in the field of energy conversion, such as electro-, photo- or photoelectrochemistry. Examples include electrosynthesis by conversion of CO2, activation of small molecules, upconversion processes in combination with photocatalytic transformations, hydrogen evolution reactions. These thematic foci are ideally combined with spectroscopic or analytical methods that also visualize dynamic processes in solution and at interfaces.
With this orientation, the existing inter-departmental and inter-faculty research activities in Paderborn are to be supplemented and strengthened. Connections to central scientific institutions such as the Center for Sustainable Systems Design (CSSD), the Center for Optoelectronics and Photonics Paderborn (CeOPP) or the Institute for Photonic Quantum Systems (PhoQS) are desirable. Active participation in and initiation of third-party funded projects and coordinated programs is expected.
The future holder of the position is expected to fully represent the field of physical chemistry in teaching in the Bachelor's and Master's programs for students in the major and minor subject, in particular also in the teacher training.
Participation in the academic self-administration is taken for granted.
