Coatings Chemistry

The Division of Coatings Chemistry is one of the 24 divisions under the roof of the German Chemists Association (GDCh). Founded in 1947 the division today counts about 500 members.

The division’s tasks are

• To actively support science and research in the field of coatings and pigments as well as their respective raw materials, products and technologies. The support should help to maintain the global competitiveness of their members.

• To provide best knowledge of chemists and technicians in the industry of coatings and pigments by the yearly organized congress on actual and important topics of the industry, by regional meetings in Leverkusen and Stuttgart on selected topics as well as by coorganizing the European congress of Fatipec which takes place every two years.

• To cooperate with other associations especially the “Verband der Ingenieure des Lack- und Farbenfaches e.V.” (VILF), the division of  GCDh “Macromolecular Chemistry” and the European Fatipec.

• To provide technical expertise in technical and political questions of the European legislation

Regularly the technical journal “Farbe+Lack” of Vincentz Network, Hannover announces the yearly congresses which are integrated in selected offers for cultural and technical sight seeing. Members of the division get the journal under preferred conditions.

• The general meeting of all members at least once a year
• The board existing of three persons including the chairman
• The working group in which are about 15 members representing different branches and the chairmen of the two former periods
