Activities and Positioning

The division "Analytical Chemistry" sees its main objective in bringing together all scientists and experts interested in any aspects of analytical chemistry in order to promote this field through encouraging the exchange of information and experiences and providing professional ideas in the field of analytical chemistry and its development. An important aim of the division is to ensure that the principles of "analytical thinking and acting" constitute the basis in education and advanced training and in the applications of analytical chemistry in order to receive reliable data, valid results and sound statements.

The division seeks to influence the future direction of Analytical Chemistry as a field through statements and policy papers, set up an appropriate framework for and strengthen the position of fundamental and applied research in this field.

The division offers scholarships to encourage junior scientists. In addition, it seeks to better include junior analytical chemists in the division’s work.

Conferences

The bi-annual ANAKON is the major scientific conference organised by the division. At this conference, key scientific advancements and key results in research and development are presented by lectures and posters. Through participation in the scientific co-ordination committee and through organisation of symposia, the division is also co-organiser of the Analytica Conference which convenes every two years together with the Analytica fair. In addition, the division gives special support to conferences organised by the division’s various work groups and to international analytics conferences convening in Germany.

Journal

The division’s organ is the Mitteilungsblatt (four issues per annum) which is covered by the membership dues.
