the German Chemical Society (GDCh)

 The Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh) is the largest chemical society in continental Europe with members from academe, industry and other areas. The GDCh supports chemistry in teaching, research and application and promotes the understanding of chemistry in the public. The society, a registered charity, was founded in 1949 but builds on a long tradition that began in 1867 when its first predecessor organization, the Deutsche Chemische Gesellschaft was founded in Berlin. 

The following pages give a brief overview of the spectrum of services and activities and of the organization of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker. While the navigation is in English throughout, not all pages have been translated. Wiley-VCH and GDCh present free access to fulltext backfiles of "Chemie in unserer Zeit" from 1967 to 1999 for members of the GDCh: ChiuZ fulltext.

The German Chemical Society has published its fourth edition of the HighChem brochure in Mai 2009. Its titel: Aktuelles zur Nachhaltigen Chemie (Topics on Sustainable Chemistry).
